 = 5 \frac{1}{2} + 3 \frac{2}{5} \\ \\   =  \frac{11}{2}  +  \frac{17}{5}  \\  \\ =   \frac{55 + 34}{10}  \\  \\  =  \frac{89}{10}  = 8.9

 \frac{2 \times 5 + 1}{2}  +  \frac{5 \times 3  +  2}{5}

 \frac{10 + 1}{2}  +  \frac{15 + 2}{5}

 \frac{11}{2}  +  \frac{17}{5}

 \frac{11 + 17}{2 \times 5}

 \frac{28}{10}
