5a {}^{2}  + 14a - 3 = 5a {}^{2}  + (15 - 1)a - 3 \\  = 5a {}^{2}  + 15a - a - 3 \\  = 5a (a + 3) - 1(a + 3) \\  = (a + 3)(5a - 1)

If you want to find the values of a....Then
5a {}^{2}  + 14a - 3 = 0 \\  =  > (a + 3)(5a - 1) = 0 \\

So,


a+3=0

=>a= -3

Or,

5a-1=0

=>5a= 1

=>a=1/5


Hence,

The values of a are -3 , 1/5
