 \displaystyle \: 5t - 3 = 3t - 5

 \implies \:  \displaystyle \: 5t - 3t =  - 5 + 3

 \implies \:  \displaystyle \: 2t  =  - 2

 \therefore \: t \:  =  - 1

 \blacksquare \: VERIFICATION

In order to verify whether t = - 1 is a solution of  \displaystyle \: 5t - 3 = 3t - 5

We put t = -1 in both sides of

 \displaystyle \: 5t - 3 = 3t - 5

Now

LHS  =  \displaystyle \: 5 \times ( - 1) - 3 =  - 5 - 3 =  - 8

RHS   = \displaystyle \:  3 \times ( - 1) - 5 =  - 3 - 5 =  - 8

So LHS =RHS

Hence verified
