 \sf5x - 3 = 3x - 5 \\ \\   \sf5x - 3x =  - 5 + 3 \\  \\  \sf2x =  - 2 \\  \\ \sf x =  \frac{ - 2}{ \:  \:  \:  \: 2}  \\  \\  \boxed{\sf x = ( - 1)}

Verification :

LHS = 5 (-1)-3

=(-5)-3

=(-5)+(-3)

=(-8)
