\alpha = 4 \: \\ \\ \beta = - 2 \\ \\ now \: polynomial \: with \: roots \: \alpha \: \beta \: is \: \: \\ \\ {x}^{2} - ( \alpha + \beta )x + \alpha \beta = 0 \\ \\ {x}^{2} - (4 - 2)x + (4)( - 2) = 0 \\ \\ {x}^{2} - 2x - 8 = 0 \\ \\

hope it helps

 \alpha + \beta = 4 + ( - 2 )= 2 \\ \alpha \beta = 4 \times ( - 2) = - 8

Standard equation:

 {x}^{2} - ( \alpha + \beta )x + ( \alpha \beta ) = 0

Therefore,

 {x}^{2} - 2x + ( - 8) = 0\\ {x - 2x - 8} = 0
