Now..

Substitute -1/2 in the place of x

2x^2+kx+1=0

=> 2 (-1/2)^2+k (-1/2)+1=0

=> 2×1/4 -k/2+1=0

=> 1/2-k/2+1=0

=> 1-k+2 / 2=0

=> 1-k+2=0

=> -k+3=0

=>k=3
