\sf{\huge{\underline{\green{Given :-}}}}

  • Rohan sold two watches to Sai for Rs. 891 each.

  • He made a profit of 10% on one watch .

  • A loss of 10% on the other.

\sf{\huge{\underline{\green{To\:Find :-}}}}

  • The profit or loss did he make on the whole .

\sf{\huge{\underline{\green{Answer :-}}}}

The S.P. of two watches x & y is = Rs. 891

He made a profit on first watch = 10%

He made a loss on second watch = 10%

Case 1 :-

Let the C.P. of the first watch x ,

The profit = 10%

➝ C.P. =  \dfrac{S.P. \times 100 }{100 + Profit \%}

➝ C.P. =  \dfrac{891 \times 100 }{100 + 10}

➝ C.P. =  \dfrac{89100 }{110}

➝ C.P. =  \dfrac{89100 }{110}

C.P. = 810

Case 2 :-

Let the C.P. of the first watch x ,

The loss = 10%

➝ C.P. =  \dfrac{S.P. \times 100 }{100 + Profit \%}

➝ C.P. =  \dfrac{891 \times 100 }{100 - 10}

➝ C.P. =  \dfrac{89100 }{90}

C.P. = 990

______________________________________

Total C.P. = C.P. of x + C.P. of y

➝ 810 + 990

1800

Total S.P. = Rs. 891

C.P. > S.P.

So, here is a loss .

Loss = C.P. - S.P.

➝ 1800 - 891

909

Loss% =  \dfrac{Loss}{C.P.}  \times 100

 \dfrac{909}{1800}  \times 100

 \cancel{\dfrac{909}{18}}

50.5 %

He make a loss of 50.5 % on whole.
