Ya, Maybe in future it is possible. Well, do you know how th moon was formed? Most of the researches and theories says that it is made due to a collision with earth which also resulted in building up a periodic revolution of this celestial body around the earth.

Hence, collision in the space is obvious but these phenomenon is too far to happen in recent times. It is believed that, when sun will become a supernova, it will engulf all the planets and celestial bodies present in the solar system. At that time, planets will collide with each other. Also we know that, Pluto is having its orbit which emerges with the orbit of Neptune, so they can collide anytime. Collision is also possible between celestial bodies like asteroids, comets etc.

Earth is present in the Goldilocks zone which is the zone where earth experience optimum temperature for the survival of life. So, if the distance between the earth and sun is halved then, the overall temperature will increase which will lead to high rate of Global warming.

The life processes of living organisms will be effected due to difference of suitable temperature. As a result, there would be destruction of the life existing in earth. Similarly, according to the Kepler's law, the duration of a year will decrease (approx. 129 days) because the earth will take less time to revolve around the earth.
