Universalisation of Elementary Education

➤Universilation of elementary education is an education term refers to make education available to all Children in the age group of

6-14 years.

➺Elementary education has become a justiable fundamental right in constitution. In 1992,The 1986 National policy on education was modified in 1992 by P. V...programme of

action (POA)1992 , under the national policy of education (NPE), 1986 envisaged to conduct of a common entrance examination on all india basis for admission to professional

and technical programs in the country.

➺According to UNESCO the awarness about education among students is also important. The social awarness is a crucial element of a child's education. It enables a student to consider the perspective of other people and understand

their needs.

➺In India,Govt. applied some schemes for elementary education.

  • Right to education
  • sarva shiksha abhiyaan (ssa)
  • Midday meal scheme
  • Beti bachao,beti padhao
  • Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidhyalaya.

➺Government opened many schools in villages with additional classrooms set up and up gradation.

➺Now,The urban area have a great education set-up,many universities, colleges ,schools and coachings are available. But the rural areas needs more development in education .

Because over 35 million children are not able to attend schools.

Speech on Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan :-

Our government had launched Sarva shiksha abhiyan in between the years 2001 - 2002 in order to provide better elementary education at free of cost to all the childrens in the 6 to 14 age group .

This program is being implemented in partnership with state and local government to address or fulfil the needs of children and to provide better education to all the childrens of our country.

The main objective of SSA is to open new schools in those areas/habitants which do not have schooling facilities and strengthen existing schools infrastructure through provision of additional class rooms, drinking water, books, toilets etc.

SSA includes national education policy 1992 .

National Education Policy 1992 :-

National Education policy 1992 had a contribution towards the development of students and country .

Main objectives of national education policy are :-

• Promotion of every religion whether it is Islam, Hinduism etc through education

•To provide education to backward or scheduled caste or scheduled tribes people

• To provide education to girls

• Raising literacy rate by providing education to every people whether it is a child or senior citizen

Education awareness among students

Education played a most important role in every part of life. It is the most significant tool in eliminating poverty and unemployment.

• We can also contribute to make people aware of the importance of education.

• Donate useless books to poor children

• By opening schools in remote areas

• We can also eliminate child marriage, gender discrimination.

• We are the people who can change the ancient and bad thinking of the people through education.

• We can provide free education to needy people's.

Goverment initiatives to promote elementary education and steps taken by the government to provide education to everyone.

• SSA ( Sarva shiksha abhiyan) the big initiative taken by the government to provide free of cost education to the children lie in the age group 6 -14 years.

• Mid day meals :- It is implemented to encourage attendance and improve their nutritional status.

• Our government has expanded primary education system by making schools in more than 5 lakh backward areas and villages

• Our government is providing laptops, cycles and books at free of cost to the children who can't afford good education

• More and more school camps have been initiated to increase the enrollment ratio in elementary schools

Impact of these policies in rural and urban areas :-

• In 2001 , The literacy rate of India was 57.6% and In year 2011 , The literacy rate of India is 74.11 . It means more and more people are sending there childrens in schools

• In year 2011 , The tertiary sector has 57.4 % share in GDP. It means skilled workers are continuously increasing

• In rural areas more and more people are educating and contributing in the development of villages

• Private schools and government schools are opening in rural areas in order to provide better education to children.

• More employment are provided in rural areas and urban areas with better wages.
