  • Only Free ions can conduct electricity
  • NaCl don't have free electrons, hence it can't conduct electricity
  • when we dissolved NaCl in water,the ions (Na+ and Cl-) get seperated.
  • Ions have free electrons moving in outermost orbit, hence, it can conduct electricity

Hence,Solid salt (Nacl) does not conduct electricity but when dissolved in water, it conducts electricity.
