Answer:

Thomas Macaulay’s Minute on Education is completely based on occidental education. He strongly opposed the Indian way of education and the orientalists who supported the Indian ways. Macaulay believed that the Indian system of education was highly inferior when compared to English education. The said that the Indian education was based on myths and legends that had no base. Macaulay said that science, English and technology must be implemented in Indian system as that was the only way to civilize the Indians. He had strong disregard for the Indian culture and literature and also said that they had no quality.

Macaulay saw India as a land of myths and taboos and the Indians as uncultured fellows. By the time orientalists suggested and wanted to implement vernacular education and promotion of Indian culture and literature, Macaulay has injected his feelings of refined education in his fellow officers. Even though the complete country was implemented with the new system of education after passing the 1835 Education Act, vernacular education was followed all over the country.

Thus, we can say that the given excerpt shows the disregard Macaulay had for the Indian system of education and the belief that English is superior to all.
