Plants that bloom at night do so because their pollinators are active atnight. ... Cacti are typically pollinated by moths, rather than bees or other creatures. The huge moths come out and they love the cactus flowers.

Only some (not all) cacti are night bloomers. The reason for nighttime blooming is thatSome reasons for those cacti only blooming uses a lot of water, and this is furthermore lost through evaporation. This is why some only bloom at night, producing a very scented flower which in turn attracts pollinators. Also, this is when their pollinators are active (nocturnal), such as bats and moths.
