Dear Amit

Hope you are in best of health and happiness. We often read in the newspapers of street accidents. So far I had not been an eyewitness to any such accident. But yesterday I chanced to see such an accident with my eyes. It took place very near to our house. I was downstairs playing in the park. A bus was running towards Rajiv Chowk. The driver overtook a rickshaw. But he faced a handcart. He tried to avoid a collision with the handcart but at the same time a small shop was demolished. In this accident ten people were injured. The police came very soon. The ambulance was informed. Three people were admitted to hospital and the rest were given first aid on the spot. The bus driver was arrested. I pray to God those who got injured should get well soon.

Dear Ritu,

Your sweet note is just to my hand. I'm glad to know that you all are well by the grace of God. We are so so here. I'm going to share with you a pathetic incident.

Last week when I was going to school I saw a horrible accident on the busiest BT Road at the peak hours of about 10:30 a.m. I was walking by BT Road to reach my school. Suddenly I saw an old man to cross the road. He did not look at the right or at the left. Then a crowded minibus was running at full speed to overtake another minibus of the same route. The driver saw the old man very close to the wheels. He tried his best to check the speed and turn the bus at the right side but before doing that the ill-fated man went under the wheels of the minibus. I saw only a hump of flesh lying in a pool of blood. At once a number of pedestrians gathered there and began to beat the driver mercilessly. Soon a police van appeared there and dispersed the mob.

The horrible sight of the accident made me so much shocked that since then I could not eat or sleep. This still prevails over my mind like a nightmare.

No more today. More when we meet. Lots of love to you.

Yours ever,

Trisha Roy
