\sf\longrightarrow \dfrac{2p}{3}  + 4 = 3p - 17

\sf\longrightarrow \dfrac{2p}{3}  - 3p = - 17 - 4

\sf\longrightarrow \dfrac{2p - 9p}{3} = - 21

\sf\longrightarrow \dfrac{-7p}{3} = - 21

\sf\longrightarrow -7p = - 63

\sf\longrightarrow p = \dfrac{- 63}{- 7}

\sf\longrightarrow p = 9

Hence, The value of p is 9

 \frac{2p}{3}  + 4 = 3p - 17 \\  \\   \: taking \: lcm \\  \\ \implies \: 2p + 12 = 9p - 51 \\  \\ \implies \: 9p - 2p = 12 + 51 \\  \\ \implies 7p = 63 \\  \\ \implies \: p =  \frac{63}{7}  = 9
