Given:

\dfrac{2x-3}{4x-5} = \dfrac{4}{7}

To Find:

The value of x.

Solution:

\dfrac{2x-3}{4x-5} = \dfrac{4}{7}

Using cross multiplication,

⇒ 7(2x - 3) = 4(4x - 5)

Solve the brackets,

⇒ 14x - 21 = 16x - 20

Take numbers to RHS and variable to LHS,

⇒ -21 + 20 = 16x - 14x

Solve the terms,

⇒ -1 = 2x

Take 2 to LHS,

\dfrac{-1}{2} = x

∴ Thus the value of x is \dfrac{-1}{2}.

Answer:

  •  \tt  x= \dfrac{-1}{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

Question

  •  \dfrac{2x - 3}{4x - 5} = \dfrac{4}{7}

Solution

  •  \dfrac{2x - 3}{4x - 5} = \dfrac{4}{7}

  • \mathfrak {Do\:Cross\:Multiplication}

  •  \tt 7 (2x - 3 ) = 4(4x - 5 )

  •  \tt 14x - 21 = 16x - 20

  •  \tt  14x - 16x = 21 - 20

  •  \tt  2x = -1

  • Note :- If we are bringing any term to LHS or RHS its sign will change.. Eg. If an number's sign is + in L.H.S when we will bring it to the right side it sign will change to -.

  •  \tt  x= \dfrac{-1}{2}
