Let the number be ' x '.

Then ,

 \frac{4x}{5} -  \frac{1x}{4}  = 12

→  \frac{16x - 5x}{20 } = 12

→ 11 x = 240

→ x =  \frac{240}{11}

Therefore the number is 240/11 .
