Question :

 \tt \frac{5x + 2}{6x - 2} = \frac{2}{3}

solve and verify the equation.

Solution :

 \tt \frac{5x + 2}{6x - 2} = \frac{2}{3}

Cross multiplying

\tt \implies 3(5x+2) = 2(6x-2)

\tt \implies 15 x + 6 = 12x - 4

\tt \implies 15x -12x = - 4 - 6

\tt \implies 3x = -10

\tt \implies x = \tt \frac{-10}{3}

Verification :

 \tt \frac{5x + 2}{6x - 2} = \frac{2}{3}

L.H.S.

 \tt \implies \frac{5x + 2}{6x - 2}

putting obtained value of x

 \tt \implies \frac{5(\frac{-10}{3}) + 2}{6(\frac{-10}{3}) - 2}

 \tt \implies  \frac{\frac{-50}{3} + 2}{-20- 2}

 \tt  \implies \frac{\frac{-50+6}{3}}{-22}

 \tt  \implies \frac{\frac{-44}{3}}{-22}

 \tt  \implies \frac{2}{3}

\tt \implies R.H.S

Hence verified.
