Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

  \frac{x}{2}  +  \frac{2y}{3}  =  - 1  \:  \: and \:  \:  \:  x -  \frac{y}{3 }  = 3

To find :

The value of x and y.

Solution :

Multiplying by 6 and 3 in 1st and 2nd equation respectively, we get,

3x + 4y = -6 - - -(a)

3x - y = 9 - - -(b)

Now, subtracting equation (b) from equation (a) we have,

3x + 4y - (3x - y) = -6-9

=> 4y + y = -15

=> 5y = -15

=> y = -3

Substituting y = - 3 in equation (b) we get,

3x - (-3) = 9

=> 3x + 3 = 9

=> 3x = 9 - 3

=> 3x = 6

=> x = 2.

Hence, x = 2 and y = -3.
