Answer:

Here, Area of river = depth × width

= 3×40=120m²

amount of water that falls into the sea ⇒ area of river × flow rate

⇒120m² × 2 km/hr

⇒120× 2×1000m³/(60mins)

⇒4000 m³/mins

∴4000m³of water falls into the sea permin

ɢɪᴠᴇɴ :

ᴀ river 3 m deep and 40 m wide is flowing at the rate of 2 km per hour.

To find out :

ʜᴏᴡ ᴍᴜᴄʜ ᴡᴀᴛᴇʀ ᴡɪʟʟ ғᴀʟʟ ɪɴᴛᴏ ᴛʜᴇ sᴇᴀ ɪɴ ᴀ ᴍɪɴᴜᴛᴇ?

Sσℓυтiση :

  • Water flowing in river in 1 hour = 2 km
  • Water flowing in river in 1 hour = 2000 m
  • Water flowing in river in 60 mins = 2000m
  • Water flowing in river in 1 min = 2000/60 m = 100/3 m

NOW,

River is in shape of cuboid

ʟᴇɴɢᴛʜ : 100/3 m

ʙʀᴇᴀᴅᴛʜ : 40 m

ʜᴇɪɢʜᴛ : 3 m

❥ᴠᴏʟᴜᴍᴇ ᴏғ ᴡᴀᴛᴇʀ ғᴀʟʟɪɴɢ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ sᴇᴀ ɪɴ ᴏɴᴇ ᴍɪɴᴜᴛᴇ = ᴠᴏʟᴜᴍᴇ ᴏғ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴜʙᴏɪᴅ

= ʟᴇɴɢᴛʜ × ʙʀᴇᴀᴅᴛʜ × ʜᴇɪɢʜᴛ

= ( 100/3 × 40 × 3 ) m³

= (100 × 40 × 1 ) m³

= 4000 m³

Therefore,

4000 m³ ᴏғ ᴡᴀᴛᴇʀ ᴡɪʟʟ ғᴀʟʟ ɪɴᴛᴏ ᴛʜᴇ sᴇᴀ ɪɴ ᴍɪɴᴜᴛᴇ.
