Answer:

Shylock is a revengeful and bloodthirsty man. From the very start, he is shown as planning to take his revenge upon Antonio for the latter's ill-treatment of him. Antonio's need for a loan serves him as a great opportunity to wreak his vengeance upon him.

Shylock is a fictional character in William Shakespeare's play The Merchant of Venice (c. 1600). A Venetian Jewish moneylender, Shylock is the play's principal antagonist. His defeat and conversion to Christianity form the climax of the story.

Shylock is firm and adamant on his decision to take nothing but the penalty. His motive is to take revenge from his enemy and show the strength of his character that nothing can prevent him from his purpose.

Shylock does not die in Merchant. However, he does see his punishment as worse than death.
