Answer:
Groundwater Replenishment is a way of supplying water that isn't affected by the climate or rain so less water is lost to evapouration. Groundwater replenishment also uses less energy which makes it cheaper than desalination and it reduces the amount of greenhouse gases going into the air. Groundwater is also generally cleaner than water from the ocean and surface water, which makes it easier to filter and clean.
If the aquifers/ groundwater isn't replenished enough it can lead to a lowering in the water table which can greatly affect the ecosystem on the Earth's surface.
Required solution :-
Groundwater replenishment is where treated wastewater is further treated to drinking water standards and recharged into groundwater supplies.
➼ Heavy rains or melting snow may cause the water table to rise.
➼ Rainwater falls on earth's surface, and flows into the rivers and lakes and some of them are absorbed by the earth.
➼ This helps move excess salts that accumulate in the root zone to deeper soil layers.
➼ The water can then be stored in our underground aquifers which helps to filter water naturally.
This is a non-stop cycle which helps to maintain the water balance on earth.
