\underline {\Huge \bold {Answer ;}}

Solar energy stored in the oceans in the form of heat is called Ocean Thermal Energy (OTE) . The process of harnessing the thermal energy of the sea is called Ocean Thermal Energy conversion in a devices used for the purpose are called Ocean Thermal Energy conversion power plants.

\bold {Advantages;}

☯ It is a renewable and pollution free source of energy.

☯ It is one of the most clean power production technologies. limitations.

\bold {Limitations ;}

⊗ It requires a lot of capital investment.

⊗ In small temperature difference the conversion efficiency is low ( 3 - 4%)

The world's first OTEC plant with a capacity of 100 MW is proposed off the coast of Tamil Nadu.

\textbf{Ocean Thermal Energy}

♀️The surface of the ocean is at a higher temperature than the layers below. This is because of the sun's heat warms up the upper layers of the sea.

♀️This temperature difference is exploited to generate energy A minimum temperature difference of 20 degrees C is needed between water at the surface and at a depth of about 2 km.

♀️This requires Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion plants which converts ocean thermal energy to electricity.
