How to get ethyl alcohol from starch.

Hey mate,

Ethanol is produced from biomass mostly via a fermentation process using glucose derived from sugars (sugar cane, sugar beet and molasses), starch (corn, wheat, grains) or cellulose (forest products) as raw materials. In this form, it is renewable.

The first step is saccharification, wherestarch is converted into sugar using an amylolytic microorganism or enzymes such as glucoamylase and α-amylase. The second step is fermentation, where sugar is converted into ethanolusing Saccharomyces cerevisiae (9, 12).
