When we see the sunlight we call it as Day. And when we see dark we call it as Night. Day and Night both are important for us. It is caused due to the rotation of the earth.

The part of Earth which faces the sunlight experience Day. And the opposite part or the side at the same time experience Night. As the earth moves from west to east so we see the sunlight rising in the east and seting in the west .
