NUTRITION IN PLANTS

》Plants also require sufficient amount of nutrients as animals require. Plants need nutrients for their growth, development, reproduction, etc.

》More than 60 mineral elements required for nutrition have been found in plants. But all of them all are not essential for them.

》A mineral or an element is said to be essential only if it has a structural and physiological role in the development of plants and in the absence of these elements, plants cannot complete their life cycle.

》There are 17 essential elements for plants : C, H, O, N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Fe, B, Mn, Cu, Zn, Mo, Cl and Ni.

》Root hairs present in the roots of plants helps to absorb nutrients from the soil.

》These nutrients are then utilised in the form of Energy,i.e., ATP to undergo developmental processes.
