During an Earthquake, the tectonic plates move from their place and this causes seismic waves which causes and earthquake. Earthquakes can cause huge destruction including breakdown of building ,cracks in the surface of earth and even more. But, some earthquakes are mild and don't cause destruction.

Cause of Earthquake

Earthquakes are usually caused when rock underground suddenly breaks along a fault.

This sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves that make the ground shake.

When two blocks of rock or two plates are rubbing against each other, they stick a little.

When the rocks break, the earthquake occurs.
