Combination reaction- when two or more substances combine chemically to form a new substance or substances the reaction is called combination reaction.

For example, when magnesium metal combine with oxygen it forms a new substance magnesium oxide and this magnesium oxide when react with water it forms magnesium hydroxide.

Mg + 02 MgO2

Magnesium (metal) + oxygen (air) Magnesium oxide (ash)

MgO2 + H2O Mg (OH)2

Magnesium oxide + water Magnesium hydroxide
