1) Raja Ram Mohan Roy campaigned against the caste system, untouchability, superstitions and use of intoxicants. He attacked child marriage, polygamy, illiteracy of women and the degraded state of widows. He fought against the perceived ills of Hindu society at that time.

2)The Arya Samaj was founded in the year 1875 by Swami Dayanand Saraswati. Dayanand was committed to fighting against the evils of child marriage and caste system. He also fought against the concept of idol worship and promoted the recognition of equal rights for men and women in all spheres of life
