Preparation of the soil is the first method in the practice of agriculture. Preparation of soil involves two steps :–

➷ Ploughing : Ploughing is the process of turning the few inches of the top soil.Ploughing is done by a wooden plank or an iron plough.

➷ Levelling : Levelling is the process of breaking the large chunks of soil to make the soil even and smooth for uniform irrigation.Levelling is done by leveller.

Sowing is the process of distributing seeds in the field. Sowing can be done by hands, drill sowing method or using seed drill. When sowing of seeds is done by hands ,then it refers to broadcasting.In drill sowing method,farmers make some holes in the field and put the seeds in that holes and cover it by soil and at last, putting seeds in the field by using seed drill is the best way because it through this proper distance and depth can be done.

Weeding is the process of removing unwanted crops(weeds) that grow with the main crops. Weeding is an important process because if farmers won't remove the seeds then weeds will compete with the main crops for nutrients,water and air. Weeding can be done by removing it through hands ; using tools like hoe, trowel; using weedicides like 2-4D,metachlor and so on.

Threshing is the process involved in the post-harvesting.This is the process after harvesting.Threshing is the process of separating grains from the main crops. Threshing can be done by thresher or combine.
