Public Facilities:-
The essential facilities for the people at large to improve their quality of life and are provided by the government. One of the most important functions of government is to ensure these public facilities are made available to everyone in the country.
Examples:- Education, Health, sanitation, electricity etc..,
- Educational facilities:- Human development of the country mostly depends on the educational levels of the people, Government should open schools and provide other facilities required to the children in the school so that all children have a chance to study.
- Health services :- Health is the most important sector for the human development. Low infant mortality rate, Higher life expectancy, low death rate are mostly depend upon the provision of health services that are made available to the people by the government
- Electricity:- Electric power is an essential energy component required in agriculture, industry, transport and house hold sectors. In modern world, it is the basis for almost all types of socioeconomic activities. Government should invest money to provide enough supply of power to meet the growing demand of people
- Public transport:- Transport sector is crucial to any economy because it helps widen the market for goods and services by connecting remote parts of a nation. The government should take responsibility to provide adequate transport facilities to the public.

Public facilities are those facilities which are not possible for any individual to access at economic cost, so government provides such facilities to the public to ensure quality of life and for development of the country.
Four major facilities given by government are as follows
(i) Basic Education Government provides school and allied educational facilities like playground furnitures of the school etc which are enjoyed by all.
(ii) Basic Health Facilities Government provides hospitals, vaccine programmes to maintain basic quality of life.
(iii) Law and Order Facility/Security Government provides police outposts, police stations for maintaining security of the public and it also protects the interest of its citizens by the state laws.
(iv) Public Distribution System Government opens PDS shops or ration shops through which basic food items like rice grain, wheat, pulses etc. are distributed at subsidised rate to the lower income group or poor people. Functioning of these facilities are dependent on the community awareness and public cooperation.
