Jorhat Sarbajanik Sabha was the first political association formed in Assam state of India. The Jorhat Sarbajanik Sabha was founded in 1884 at Jorhat, Assam.

MrKhan18: A discussion to this effect took place at a meeting of the association held at Jorhat on 18th April, 1921 with Chobilal Upadhyay in the chair.

MrKhan18: In May 2016, after the Bharatiya Janata Party led National Democratic Alliance which includes parties like Asom Gana Parishad and Bodoland People's Front formed its first government in Assam, and formed a new alliance called the North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) with Himanta Biswa Sarma as its convener.
