\textbf{\underline{\underline{Question:- }}}

In a class test, Shoeb completed his paper in 60 minutes where as his friend Gautam took 2 hours to complete the same test paper. Find the ratio between the time taken to complete the class test paper by both the friends.

\textbf{\underline{\underline{Answer :-}}}

The ratio of the time taken by Shoeb and Gautam to complete the paper is = 1 : 2

\textbf{\underline{\underline{Explanation :- }}}

Given :

Time taken by Shoeb to complete the paper = 60 minutes

Time taken by Gautam to complete the paper = 2 hours

To find :

The Ratio between the time taken to complete the paper by Shoeb and Gautam.

Solution :

Hours and minutes are different units of measurement of time, hence we cannot compare them without conversion.

Hence , first we need to convert the time into same units before expressing the time taken by Shoeb and Gautam as a ratio.

★ 1 hour = 60 minutes

So, 2 hours =

{\Rightarrow} 2 × 60

\tt{\Rightarrow} 120 minutes

Ratio of the time taken by =

Shoeb : Gautam =

\tt{\implies \dfrac{60}{120} }

\tt{\implies \dfrac{1}{2}}

\tt{\implies1 : 2}

\thereforeThe ratio of the time taken by Shoeb and Gautam to complete the paper is 1 : 2

METHOD II

We can also convert 60 minutes into hours.

★ 60 minutes = 1 hour

Time taken by Shoeb = 60 min. = 1 hour

Time taken by Gautam = 2 hours

Ratio of the time taken by =

Shoeb : Gautam =

\tt{\implies1 : 2}

\thereforeThe ratio of the time taken by Shoeb and Gautam to complete the paper is = 1 : 2
