Describe the hybridisation in case of PCl5. ... Phosphorus atom is sp3d hybridized in the excited state. PCl5. The geometry of PCl5 is trigonal bipyramidal .The P atom lies in the centre of an equatorial triangle & three P-Cl bonds (equatorial bonds) are directed towards its three corners with 120° bond angle.

✏ Answer ✏

The mixing of one S, three P and one d-atomic orbitals to from five sp3d Hybrid orbitals of equal energy is called sp3d

Hydridization..........In PCLS moleule the central atom is P.....

Hope it's help you buddy.......

Thank you
