The four types of number system are :-

  • Binary (BIT) :- It consists of two digits 0 & 1 , having base 2 . It works through ON & OFF function. Where, ON is 1 & OFF is 0 .

 {2}^{5} , {2}^{4} , {2}^{3} , {2}^{2} , {2}^{1} , {2}^{0}

  • Decimal :- It consists of digit 0 -9 ,having base 10 . It work on position value system. The last Right digit is LSD & last left digit is MSD .

 {10}^{3} , {10}^{2} , {10}^{1} , {10}^{0}

  • Octal :- It consists of digit 0-7 ,having base 8 . Micro computer use this system.

 {8}^{5} , {8}^{4} , {8}^{3} , {8}^{2} , {8}^{1} , {8}^{0}

  • Hexadecimal :- It consists of digit 0 -9 ,& ABCDEF having base 16 . Hexa = first 6 alphabet & decimal = 10

 {16}^{5} , {16}^{4} , {16}^{3} , {16}^{2} , {16}^{1} , {16}^{0}

a.) Decimal to binary :-

  • We have to devide the number given in question by 2.

  • We have to put the remainder in remainder column & quotient below the number.(Notice that remainder can only be 0 or 1 )

  • Repeat the process till quotient becomes 0.

  • The answer will be start writing remainder from down to up such that lower is left & upper is right to the base 2.

Eg. Refers to the attachment above

b.) Binary to Decimal :-

  • Write the given question up to down starting from right to left .

  • Start multiplying from  {2}^{0} .

  • Increase the power of 2 according to the number.

  • Then add all the result.

  • The answer consist of base 10.

  •  {2}^{0} = 1

Eg. Refers to the attachment above
