CHARACTERISTICS OF DESERT SOIL(ARID SOIL):
- Arid soil range from red to brown in colour.
- They are sandy in texture and saline in nature.
- The salt content is very high in some areas.
- Evaporation is faster due to the dry climate and high temperature.
- The soil lacks humus and moisture.
- The calcium content increases downwards due to which the lower horizons of the soil are occupied by Kankar.
