People who were inside tried to get out. Those who were outside tried to get in. There was a great deal of jostling. Some smart ones elbowed their way in. Everybody was in a hurry. The scene was very colorful. The vendors cried their wares. Their cries were amusing. The Waterman served water to thirsty passengers. A newsboy hurried about selling his newspapers and magazines. After about fifteen minutes, the engine gave a whistle. The guard waved a green flag, and the train steamed off.

☆ A paragraph is a number of sentences grouped together and relating to one topic. I order to write a good paragraph on a given topic, the following suggestions should be followed:

• Think deeply on the given topic. Some points will come to your mind. Arrange these points in order so that they can be developed into a paragraph.

• Now start writing your paragraph. Develop your points one by one into complete sentences.

• Take care that each sentence naturally flows from the previous one. Your paragraph should have unity; it should not be just a collection of unrelated sentences.

• Your language should be simple but correct. Do not write very long sentences.

• The first sentence in your paragraph should be the topic sentence; i.e. it should at once introduce the main idea of your paragraph. Similarly, the last sentence should state your conclusion on the topic

A railway platform is full of life when a train is about to arrive. There are waiting rooms full of passengers. The people in their gay dresses stand in queues. They buy tickets or platform tickets. The coolies carry the luggage of the passengers. Some passenger’s chest with one another and some went to the tea stall and have refreshments. Some stood, before the book stall.  There is great hurry.  Passengers pick up their luggage and rush to the coming train. A few minutes after the departure of the train, the platform presents a deserted look.
