Pseudoallelism is a state in which two genes with similar functions are located so close to one another on a chromosome that they are genetically linked. One hypothesis is that pseudoalleles are formed as a result of gene duplication events, and the duplicated genes can undergo gene evolution to develop new functions.

-Any of two or more closely linked genes that act usually as if a single member of an allelic pair but occasionally undergo crossing-over and recombination is termed as Psudoalleles.

-The well-known examples are lozenge gene and star asteroid in Drosophila.
