QUESTION ⤵️

The lengths of the diagonals of a rhombus are 24 cm and 32 cm. Calculate the length of the altitude of the rhombus?

ANSWER⤵️

Every rhombus is cut into (4) congruënt right triangles.

The "legs" of each one will be half of 24cm and half of 32cm: that is, 12cm and 16cm. The Pythagorean Theorem says that the remaining side, the hypotenuse, will be √(12^2+16^2)cm; 12^2+16^2=144+256=400; √400=20. That gives us one side of the rhombus at 20cm.

The entire rhombus has (4) of these, so our perimeter is 4×20cm=80cm
