Answer:

1 it forms metal oxide

2.either mixes with it or reacts

3.firms toxic and reactive products.

4.bases are generally used to neutralize the acidic nature of substances but in this case they are hydrolyzed..

HEY MATE HERE IS YOUR ANSWER ☺

✭Reaction of metal with oxygen

When a metal reacts with oxygen, a metal oxide forms. The general equation for this reaction is: metal + oxygen → metal oxide. Rust is a form of iron oxide and it forms slowly when iron is exposed to air.

example :-

  • magnesium + oxygen → magnesium oxide

✭Reaction of metal with acid

When an acid reacts with metal, a salt and hydrogen are produced: acid + metal → salt + hydrogen An example: nitric acid + calcium → calcium nitrate + hydrogen The salt that is produced depends upon which acid and which metal react.

example :-

  • Mg + 2HCl → MgCl2 + H2

✭Reaction of non-metal with water

Reaction of non-metals with oxygen: They react with oxygen to form acidic oxides or neutral oxides. Reaction of non-metals with water: They do not react with water (steam) to evolve hydrogen gas.

example:-

  • Na + H2O → NaOH + H2

✭Reaction of non-metal with base

Many non-metals react with bases to form salts. Bases are electron donors whereas non-metals are electron acceptors. Thus, bases donate electrons to non-metals which readily accepts them and form a salt.

example:-

  • Al+3HCl→AlCl3+1.5H2
