Explanation:

Voltage (V) = 220 V

Current (I) = 5 A

Time (t) = 2 h = 2 x 60 x 60 = 7200 s

Power (P) is given by the expression,

P = V × I

P= 220 x 5

P = 1100 W

Energy consumed by the motor = P x t

P = 1100 x 7200

P = 7.92 x 106 J

Therefore, power of the motor = 1100 W

Energy consumed by the motor = 7.92 x 106 J

QUESTION:-

An electric motor takes 5 A from a 220 V line. Determine the power of the motor and the energy consumed in 2 h

GIVEN:-

  • Current in the motor = 5 ampere
  • Potential difference = 220 V
  • Time = 2 hours

TO FIND:-

The power of the motor and the energy consumed.

Formula  used :-

  • Power of the motor = V × I
  • Energy = power × time

ANSWER:-

Putting all the values, we get

Power of the motor = V × I

Power of the motor = 220 × 5

Power of the motor = 1100 watt or 1.1 kW

Hence, the power of the motor is 1100 watt or 1.1 kW.

Now, Energy = power × time

Energy = 1.1 kWh × 2 h.

Energy = 2.2 kWh

Hence, the energy consumed in 2 hour is 2.2 kWh.

                             Hope it helps :D
