Let us consider the ration of two numbers be x

The two numbers are 5x and 3x

Since two numbers differ by 18, we can write the equation

5x – 3x = 18

2x = 18x= 9

Therefore the two numbers are

5x = 5 x 9 = 45

and

3x = 3 x 9 = 27

∴ The two numbers are 45 and 27.

Given :

Difference between the two numbers = 18

Now, let the numbers be 5x and 3x

According to the question :

 \implies \large5x - 3x = 18

 \implies \large2x = 18

 \implies \large \: x =  \frac{18}{2}  = 9

Since, x = 9

Therefore :

One number = 5 × 9 = 45

Another number = 3 × 9 = 27
