Step-by-step explanation:

Let the breath be “x”

Length = x + 8

therefore

Length : Breath :: 5 : 3

Now convert the ratio in a fractional form

(x+8)/x = 5/3

3(x+8)=5(x). .( cross multiply)

3x+24=5x

24=5x-3x

24=2x

x=12

Now,

Breath = 12 m

Length = 20 m

Question :-

If the length of a plot is 8 m more than the width and both are in the ratio of 5 : 3 then calculate the width of the plot.

Answer : -

width = 12m

Step by Step answer ,

This question deals with the concepts of the formulae of rectangle and the ratio and proportion ,

Let the Width be “x”

According to the Question ,

Length of plot = x + 8

Since, Length : Width : : 5 : 3

Now convert the ratio in a fractional form

(x+8)/x = 5/3

Now cross multiply,

3 (x + 8) = 5x

3x + 24 = 5x

24 = 5x - 3x

24 = 2x

x = 12
