Answer :

The measure of AP and PB are \dfrac{7}{4} cm and \dfrac{21}{4} cm respectively.

See the explanation!

Step-by-step explanation :

Given that :

  • The length of AB is 7cm.
  • AP : PB => 1:3.

To Do :

We have to measure AP : PB. and drawline segment AB of length 7 cm and find a point P on it such that AP : PB = 1 : 3.

Solution :

Measuring :

\bigstar\;\textbf{\underline{\underline{Consider as -}}}

The measure of AP and PB as - x & y.

So,

\sf \implies AB=AP+PB\\ \\\implies 7=x+y\\ \\\implies 7 = 4x\\ \\\implies x = \dfrac{7}{4}

Measure of AP and PB are :

\sf \implies AP = x =\dfrac{7}{4}\\ \\\implies PB=y=3\times \dfrac{7}{4}=\dfrac{21}{4}\\ \\ \\\bigstar \textbf{\underline{\underline{The measure of AP and PB are 7/4 cm and 21/4 cm respectively.}}}

\rule{300}{1.5}

Construction :

⇒ Draw a line segment AB = 7cm

⇒ Take ∠A8, AB = ∠AB, B8.

⇒ (3 + 5) = 8 then, Mark A1, A2 etc.....

⇒ Join A , B8 and A2, B7 similarly all points.........

⇒ Point of intersection of A3, B5 & AB is point P.
