  • Auroras are colourful light in the night time sky primarily appearing in the earth's polar region.

  • The Aurora Borealis and Aurora Australis occur when high-energy particles are fling from the Sun’s corona toward the Earth and mingle with the neutral atoms in our atmosphere -- ultimately emitting extraordinary light .

  • The auroras are caused by solar winds hitting to the our upper atmosphere.

{\bf{\pink{\underline{\underline{Causes\:Of\:Auroras:}}}}}

  • Our sun is a giant burning star.It expels tons of solar wind into space.Solar wind consist of super hot charged particles which are fatal.

  • The earth's magnetic field acts like a shield snf protect us from these charged particles.

  • Its field lines appear to emerge from the south pole and merge into the north pole.

  • When the charged particles hit out magnetic field most of them get deflected.

  • However some of them will flow along with earth's magnetic field lines to the poles and reach our upper atmosphere.

  • Here these particles collide with oxygen and nitrogen .This causes them to give off various colours of light called Auroras.

The culprit behind Aurora is our own son and the Solar plasma that is ejected during a magnetic event like a Flair mass ejection this plasma Travels outward along with the Solar wind and when it Encounters Earth's magnetic field it travels down the field lines that connect at the poles.

Atoms in the plasma interacts with atoms in the earth's upper atmosphere .

Astronomy reminds us that we are so so tiny in the enormous Cosmos astronomy makes a stumble it Ignite ise our curiosity it is extreme and beautiful it tells us about our past and even our future .

  • The common colours found in the aurora are Green,red,yellow,white etc.

Types:-

  • Aurora borealis (Northern lights)

  • Aurora Australis (Southern lights)

We can commonly find Aurora near the Magnetic poles.

Simply we can an aurora is an astronomical light show.An aurora consists of bands of light in the sky along the north and south poles.

In aurora the green light colour give more energy.Thus green light is produced due when the oxygen in exited.

When the sun is stormy then the red will give more energy .

This auroras can occur for nearly 30 minutes

Aurorae disturb the atmosphere and this affects radio waves that are communicating information around the world.

The solar wind adds its own magnetic energy to that of the Earth and when they combine they can blow out electric wires and cables! The Earth's atmosphere actually expands slightly when aurorae are around.

Northern Lights Solar Particles Move Millions of Miles Per Hour.

The Northern Lights Continuously Encircle the North Pole.Auroral Breakups Bring the Northern Lights to Life.

Colours:-

{\bf{\green{\underline{\underline{Green \:Aurora:}}}}} occur at altitudes between 120 to 180 km.It is the most common Aurora colour.

{\bf{\pink{\underline{\underline{Pink \:Aurora:}}}}} associated with higher solar winds.They are most common in lower areas of aurora.

{\bf{\blue{\underline{\underline{Blue \:Aurora:}}}}} occurs mostly below 120km.It is the second rearest aurora colour.

{\bf{\red{\underline{\underline{Red \:Aurora:}}}}} occurs mostly above 180km.Red is yhe rearest Aurora colour.

{\bf{\orange{\underline{\underline{Yellow \:Aurora:}}}}} occurs through mixture of green and red auroras.Yellow is moderately common aurora colour.

Corona are seen when the aurora is directly above you.Corona appears in many different colours.

Thanks for this lightened question!

 \huge{ \bf{ \underline{ \underline{ \green{Au}ror \green{as}}}}}

If you ever get a chance of visiting the North and South pole, Don't forget to see the light show, up in the sky. Surprised! Okay, Let me explain....

❍ Natural light shows are frequent in the north and south pole. The sky get illuminated because of Aurora. They are lights known as Auroras or Northern lights.

  • It is also seen from the South pole.In North pole, Auroras are known as Aurora borealis and In south pole, Auroras are known as Aurora australis. In north pole, They are known as Northern lights and in south pole, they are known as Southern lights.

Like most of the atmospheric phenomenon which are caused by the Sun, Aurora is also due to Sun. Ya, It's common to say otherwise where the light would have come. So, let's explore about it more!

 \huge{ \bf{ \underline{ \underline{ \pink{How} \: by \: \pink{sun?}}}}}

Sun is a rich source of energy and electrified particles and release them into the space which also comes to our Earth. But, Our Atmosphere and magnetic field protects us from these, and we don't observe or feel it prominently.

  • But, Sometimes the sun releases these in heavy amount which runs into the space at a very high speed. It releases it similar to the burp.
  • It constantly releases solar storms and solar winds, and in one mass ejection known as Coronal mass ejection which is ejaculated from the Corona layer is what causes Auroras.
  • It contains electrified and ionized gases.When these approaches the Earth, the particles interact with the atmosphere and produces illuminations with band of lights in the sky of North and South pole.

The solar storms and winds travels at very high speed and runs parallel to the magnetic field which causes Auroras.

 \huge{ \bf{ \underline{ \underline{ \green{Colors} \: of \: \green{auroras}}}}}

Actually, these lights have definite colours which makes them more beautiful and attractive up in the sky. The colour of the auroras are determined by the gases with the charged particles interacted. Here, are some examples:

  • Like, If they are predominantly interacted with the Nitrogen, Blue, Purple and reddish colour will appear.
  • Similarly, If it interacts with Oxygen, Green, Yellowish lights are produced.This determines, how the colours appears in the lights.

☁️ In Ancient times, Auroras were phenomenal and magical for the people. They thought of them, of any supreme power sending blessings or boon to them. It is natural, of feeling so.....for them, who have seen it!

 \huge{ \bf{ \underline{ \underline{ \pink{In \:} other \: \pink{planets}}}}}

Yes, Like Earth other planets like Jupiter and Saturn also experiences Auroras and phenomenal lights up in the Sky near the poles. It was observed clearly, By the help of Hubble Space Telescope.

  • Also, Auroras are found in Uranus and Neptune, which were observed using other powerful telescopes.
  • Auroras in Saturn, are similar to that of Earth but in Jupiter, they are somewhat complex. It might be because of Jupiter's strong magnetic fields.
  • Auroras have also been observed on Venus and Mars. Venus have no magnetic fields, That's why it looks like small patches of light. An aurora was detected on Mars, on 14 August 2004, by the SPICAM instrument aboard Mars Express. The aurora was located at Terra Cimmeria.

Finally, I just wanna say.....Auroras reminds me of Fantasies. The Shimmering curtains of coloured lights brighten the skies of Polar regions like Alaska. So, Let's keep exploring the infinite universe because,

"Somewhere, Something incredible is yet to be known..."
