DANDI MARCH / SALT SATYAGRAHA:

❏ Dandi March also known as Salt Satyagraha was a non violent movement launched by Mohandas Gandi in 1930.

❏ Dandi March was started as a part of civil disobedience movement.

❏ Gandhi started Dandi March as a violation of salt laws as the demands were not fulfilled during Civil Disobedience movement.

❏ During this movement, the Congress leaders demanded purna swaraj [ complete independence].

THE MOVEMENT:

❏ Gandhi along with his 78 volunteers started his campaign from Sabarmati Asram to Dandi, Gujarat.

❏ Gandhi with his volunteers reached Dandi on 5th April, 1930.

❏ There, he prepared his own salt and violated the Birtish salt laws.

❏ Thus, salt became the symbol of India's will to freedom.

❏ This march lasted for two months which electrified the National consiousness among the Indians.
