Coils of electric toasters and electric irons made of an alloy rather than a pure metal because the resistivity of an alloy is higher than the pure metal. Also at high temperatures, the alloys do not melt easily.

 \huge \sf \color{green}{{\underbrace{\color{red}{Answer}}}} :

Resistivity of Alloy is higher than that of metal. Moreover , alloy only do not oxide(burn) readily even at high temperatures. Therefore, coils of electric toaster and electric iron and other such devices are made up of alloy rather than a pure metal.

Generally nichrome is used in such devices .
