  1. In geometry, Heron's formula (sometimes called Hero's formula), named after Hero of Alexandria, gives the area of a triangle when the length of all three sides are known. Unlike other triangle area formulae, there is no need to calculate angles or other distances in the triangle first.
  2. You can term 'a' and 'b' as the legs of that triangle which meet each other at 90°. Hence, the formula will be a2 + b2 = c2. There's another way of stating this theorem. In this case, 'a' is the base, 'b' is the perpendicular and 'c' is the hypotenuse.
