Following functions are performing by the state public service commission :

1. To conduct examination for the recruitment of various types of service under state government.

2. To advise the government in the following in the following matters :

• On all matters relating to civil posts or service.
• On the principles to be followed in making appointment to civil servants.
• On the method of promotions and transfer from one service to another.
• On all disciplinary matters affecting government servants of the state.
• On claims for the awards of pension in respect to injuries by a state official on duty.
• The Governor can seek the advice of the Commission on any other matter.
• On the claims made by any person who is serving or was serving under state government that cost defending legal proceedings against him in respect of acts done/ to be done in the execution of his duty should be borne by the government.
