Describe the layers of soil with the help of a diagram.

\huge\underline\mathtt\red{αиѕωєя:-}

1. A- Horizon (The Topsoil) – The uppermost layer of the soil is called topsoil. It is soft, porous and capable of holding good amount of water. It is rich in minerals and humus which make the soil fertile. It is darker than other layers because of the humus. It helps most of the herbs to grow. Many kinds of soil organisms live in this layer.

2. B- Horizon (The subsoil) – B- horizon lies just below the topsoil. It is poor in humus but rich in minerals. It is lighter in colour due to less humus in it. It is rich in soil water. It is home to many burrowing animals. It helps deep growing roots from shrubs and trees with water and minerals.

3. C- Horizon (The Substratum) - The substratum is the layer below subsoil. It includes big pieces of broken rocks It may holds water and minerals. Roots from trees growing deep into the soil may reach this horizon. Water from this horizon is available to the trees all the year round. This is why they remain green even in hot summer.

4. The Bedrock - The bedrock is hard solid rock layer impervious to water. It may hold water with dissolved minerals. Wells or tube wells are dug to reach the bedrock to draw groundwater collected on it.

Hope It Helps♡~

\huge \underbrace \mathfrak \blue{Answer}

Soil is made up of distinct layers, called horizons. ... A HORIZON- This is the layer that we call "topsoil" and it is located just below the O Horizon. This layer is made up of minerals and decomposed organic matter and it is also very dark in color. This is the layer that many plants roots grow in.
