  • Raziya Sultan was the õnly female Muslim monarch who ruled Delhi.
  • After Iltutmish died, she ascended the throne against the wishes of the nobility, the chahalgani, who defied her rule from the very beginning.
  • But Raziya went against the gender bias and orthodox notions prevalent at that time. She wore male attire and appeared before the public without a veil.
  • She ensured strong law enforcement throughout her empire.
  • The powerful nobility conspired against her because they disapproved of her and some of her decisions.Ultimately, they had killed her.
